Road Trip Recap {Part 6 - Zion National Park}

After a long day of driving through the Arizona desert, we finally arrived in Kanab, UT to stay with our friends.  We enjoyed a picnic at Zion National Park the next day.

The park brochure states that “Zion canyon was formed over centuries of erosion caused by tributaries of the Virgin River which left behind the beautiful eroded canyon walls and monoliths.”  Many of the rock formations have Bible-inspired names, such as Great White Throne, The Three Patriarchs, The Altar of Sacrifice, Angel’s Landing, etc.  I do not remember the name of the one pictured above.

Zion Natl. Park--what fun! Last fall we hiked back to where the "narrows" begin. If I were about 10 years younger, I would have liked to wade through the water and go further. At the time I thought how much fun our kids would have had here when the were young. I liked that Spotted Towhee also. We didn't see any of them, but we were there in late September.

What a wonderful spot. I love the rock formations. We have lots of rocks here in Ohio but not with those great colors.LOL! It is amazing how plants can grow amongst the rocks. They find a way.
I love, love, love Zion! What gorgeous, lush photos!
I was there last year. Did most of the hike to Angel's Landing--scary.
We stayed with friends in Utah and even went to the Grand Canyon for one day.
I'm so glad you had such a great trip, Adrienne!
