Often mistaken for a hummingbird because of its flight pattern and hovering behavior, this hummingbird clearwing moth unfurls its proboscis to drink nectar from a butterfly bush.
Hummingbird moths are among my favorite winged creatures! Great photo, lovely colors! Thanks for stopping by my blog today and for your comments. I contemplate dropping the blog but am reluctant to lose connections with people like you, who have become like a dear neighbor.
When I was in Ohio last week, I told Dad that I hoped to see the hummingbird moth that visits his flowers. Unfortunately, I never saw it. They are so cool, and you got an outstanding photo!
