Hatchlings by Morning Light

I just had to share a photo of the newly hatched robin babies.  (I wasn’t surprised to see one egg yet unhatched.  Initially there were only three eggs in the nest.  By the time we viewed the nest the next morning, there was another egg.  It hatched later yesterday afternoon.)
three baby robins and one egg Fortunately for me, it is “Pet” week over at I Heart Faces.  And while these clearly aren’t pets, the rules state that the photo can be of any animal.  Click on the badge below to view the other great entries.

Dana, you're absolutely right--they're so ugly that they are cute. It's a good thing I went to work today--I can hardly keep away from the window. And when the mama sees me move, she flies away. (At which point I run outside with my camera and fire off a few shots before she comes back.) But i feel guilty for spooking her. ;)

I was excited right away when I saw it was her because I knew she was your friend. Any friend of yours is a friend of mine. This picture is awesome. I love the remaining egg. It adds a nice touch!

LOL at Becky... only a photographer would be glad for the "color pop" that the unhatched egg adds to the photo! :<) And that is incredible, Adrienne... not many people can get those kinds of photos, or watch such a special moment in time as it unfolds. I'm so glad that it happened to YOU... and I feel sure that it was "planned" by someone very special...
The nest sure is pretty, and the baby birds will soon look much better. Beautiful photo!

So neat! We had a nest of cardinals in one of our bushes, but I couldn't get a good angle without the mom trying to dive bomb me. Very cool shot. I'm totally jealous.
Oh Adrienne, I love your little Robins... That is a SUPER picture. They must feel safe at your home.

Hugs,
Betsy

How precious! Their eyelids are so big. And that blue egg give your picture that little extra color to make it special.

We'll look forward to see them with their eyes opened.

Have a wonderful day!
