Winter Beauty

frsoty trees
We had about 15 inches of snow fall last weekend.  But the photo above was taken Monday, after the snow had already melted from the branches.  These trees are white with hoar frost--feathery ice crystals, the longest measuring up to a quarter-inch long.  The scenery was breathtaking until just about noon on Monday.

What fascinating images. That crystalization process must occur in certain conditions.
Here in Belgium we have snow, snow, snow and lots of ice ... and we are not used to that condition. Greenhouse effect, don't believe it ...

Fascinating photo of the crystalization on the plants. The photo with the pinecone would make a pretty X-mas card.
Happy Skywatch Friday!
We had about the same amount of snow on Wednesday and it put just about everthing to a standstill as far as schools and most jobs had snow day off or worked from home.
Fabulous photos, Adrienne.. Love seeing the pictures BIG like this... Your snow/ice/hoar-frost is just gorgeous.. Love those blue skies also!!!!

How's hubby???? Hope all of you are fine.

Hugs,
Betsy

Beautiful frost pictures. I love it after a storm and the air is thick with moisture - great time for frost pictures.

Just gorgeous picture Adrienne. The favorite of mine is the pine cones. That would make a beautiful calender picture. Have a good weekend with your sweetie.

Isn't it awesome when we look up close at God's handiwork? Such a work of art in that hoar frost!!! How can people believe such beauty happens by chance?

Great job capturing the beauty!

...beautiful photos of the snow and the frosty ice crystals. Love the closeups. We have 6-8 inches more of snow moving in tonight. This has been quite the winter for us!

Oh! So pretty. Sometimes I get caught up in complaining about it and forget to really gaze upon it. Our magnificent world. So pretty!

I love your photos! Have you read the book, "An Altar in the World"? Your gift of seeing reminds me of what Barbara Brown Taylor writes about....

I look out the window and think...dang, it's cold out there. You look out and find this beauty. Looks like I need to venture outdoors more!
